Abstract: Most organizations are struggling
with rapidly growing volumes of data. As their data explodes, so does the cost
of managing and storing the data, and it becomes challenging to give users the
access they need to analyze and extract value from it. This presentation
will focus on Sybase IQ and its role in solving these issues. Sybase IQ is a
highly optimized analytics server, designed to deliver dramatically faster
results for mission-critical business intelligence, data warehouse, and
reporting solutions. Sybase IQ delivers unsurpassed search performance and
storage efficiency for structured and unstructured data, making it ideal for
specialty operational data stores. Sybase IQ combines extraordinary speed and
agility with a low total cost of ownership, enabling enterprises to perform
analysis and reporting that was previously impossible, impractical, or
cost-prohibitive.
Members frequently continue
discussions at Champps Sports Bar after
the meeting while waiting for traffic to subside.

ASE Edition Combines Shared-Disk Clustering and Virtualized Resource Management™
Technology to Help Customers Better Optimize Resources, Meet Service Level
Agreements and Lower Cost
"Enterprises today
are struggling to reduce their infrastructure costs yet at the same time meet
high-availability requirements,” said Carl Olofson, Research vice president for
Information Management and Data Integration, IDC. “Shared-disk cluster
architecture helps to meet these key enterprise requirements for
mission-critical database applications. Sybase's focus on building in
capabilities to reduce IT complexity through a shared-disk cluster architecture
to improve system availability and reliability, and to simplify administration
will go towards enabling further adoption of this approach."
“ASE Cluster Edition
brings unparalleled availability and resource optimization to a database
platform already known for its superior performance, reliability and low total
cost of ownership," said Dr. Raj Nathan, Chief Marketing Officer, Sybase.
“Customers in areas such as financial services, telecommunications, retail and
government have turned to ASE because it handles extreme transactions in OLTP
environments ranging from small and mid-sized databases to VLDB systems with
rock solid reliability. We are pleased that we've been able to develop ASE
Cluster Edition so that our customers, who run some of the world's most critical
data, are able to cost-effectively achieve unprecedented service levels.”

4) Sybase 365 Positioned as Trusted
Global mCommerce Partner
Research
Shows mBanking and mPayments Poised for Vast Growth as Consumers Become More
Today, mobile banking
is led by banks, and mobile payments by mobile operators. Throughout the next 12
months, we will see mBanking and mPayments coming together, because as the value
of transactions increase, integration into the banking system is
necessary.
“The mobile industry has been discussing mobile business
and payments for over ten years. In 2008 we will start to see financial
institutions fully exploit the potential of mCommerce,” said Matthew Talbot,
vice president, mCommerce, Sybase 365. “Staying competitive means not only
providing innovative services to meet customer demands but also demonstrating
value to the customer that will lead to uptake of services, resulting in
improved ROI through reduced operational and customer-servicing costs—and
increased revenue for banks.”
For mCommerce to
scale globally, a trusted intermediary needs to sit between mobile operators,
financial institutions and merchants. It is physically and commercially
impossible for banks and merchants to work with every mobile operator around the
world and vice versa. As the leader in mobile messaging in both Application to
Person (A2P) and Person to Person (P2P) messaging, together with the extensive
experience, products and relationships Sybase® has with the Financial Services
Industry, Sybase 365 is well placed to be this intermediary.
