1) SUG-TX December 15th SUG-TX Holiday Party Highlights

 

The Sybase Users' Group of Texas held their annual holiday party at the Fox Sports Grill at the Galleria III on Wednesday, December 15th.   SUG-TX officers Don Clayton, Kathy Ridley, Cynthia Gill, and Cindy Bean were joined by Bill Wing, our local Sybase user's group representative, and other SUG-TX members.  A good time was had by all.  A major highlight of the evening was watching Bill and Don arm wrestle the drink tab...

 

 

2) Upcoming January 25th SUG-TX Meeting

 

The Sybase Users' Group of Texas will hold their first meeting of 2005 on Tuesday, January 25th.  The meetings are held at HAL-PC, 4543 Post Oak Place, Suite 200, Houston, TX 77027 (map), from 4:00pm to 6:30pm.  Members frequently continue discussions at Champps Sports Bar after the meeting while waiting for traffic to subside.

 

Topic:

 

The purpose of the January meeting is to plan for 2005 and hold officer elections. The current officer candidates for 2005 are:

   President - Donald Clayton, Intertech Consulting
   Vice President - Bernie Dy, MI Drilling
   Treasurer - Kathy Ridley, Adea Solutions
   Secretary - Cindy Bean, BMC Software

 

Additional nominations will be taken at the meeting if you would like to help the group in some capacity.  There are also plenty of opportunities to help the group without becoming an officer, and your input is welcome!  An open discussion of the goals of the user group for 2005, possible meeting topics for 2005, and a review as to whether any changes needed to be made to the meeting format is planned. 

 

 

3) Sybase Wins Open Source World's "2004 Editor's Choice Award" for "Best Linux Database"

 

DUBLIN, Calif. - January 06, 2005 - Sybase, Inc. 4) iAnywhere Wins Two MobileTrax 2005 Mobility Awards

5) New Version of AvantGo Delivers Enhanced Wireless Capabilities and Added Features for Managing, Exploring and Personalizing Mobile Content

 

Dublin, CA - January 11, 2005 - iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today launched the latest version of its AvantGo service, delivering superior features for managing and viewing mobile Internet content offline or online, anywhere at anytime. 6) Houston User Group for Sun (HUGS) Meeting

 

The Houston User Group for Sun meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Houston Sun office.  The next meeting is February 8th.  To be added to their mailing list, contact Art Blummer.

c) Conference - TechWave 2005 Budgeting Information

 

TechWave is the most cost-effective, efficient, valuable way to obtain product training, knowledge and skills for using Sybase products.  If purchased separately, comparable training, products and services plus additional travel and time away from the office, would cost thousands of dollars more than the fee for this conference.

 

Registration fees for the 2005 conference are as follows:
