1) Next SUG-TX Meeting - June 22nd

The Sybase Users’ Group of Texas will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, June 22nd.  The meetings are held from 4:00-6:30pm at HAL-PC; 4543 Post Oak Place, Suite 200 (
map).  Remember, meetings are now on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 4:00-6:30pm at HAL-PC; 4543 Post Oak Place, Suite 200.

Meeting Abstract:
Appeon 2.7 for PowerBuilder, presented by Don Clayton and Bryan Roberts of Intertech Consulting, Inc.

Appeon PowerBuilder Edition 2.7 was designed and developed to move entire PowerBuilder applications to the Web.  Appeon automatically generates n-tier Web applications from the native source code of PowerBuilder applications, using HTML and XML to precisely replicate the UI and UI logic of the PowerBuilder
application.  As it turns out, the resulting web-enabled application resides in EAServer as a combination of HTML, XML, and web components.  Appeon is also an extremely productive environment for PowerBuilder developers wanting to rapidly build new applications for the web.

                                Appeon Architecture Overview

Appeon PowerBuilder 2.7 is the only solution that can transform client/server applications into Web applications with the click of a button.   Appeon combines the development productivity
of PowerBuilder, the openness and performance of EAServer, with the automation of Appeon workbench for an immediate return on investment.

Appeon PowerBuilder Edition 2.7 delivers value to all stakeholders of enterprises:

•    Application Users have no need to learn the same application twice, because the Web application has the identical UI and UI logic as the PowerBuilder application.
•    PowerBuilder Developers can transform existing PB applications into Web applications, or build new PB applications for deployment to the Web, using standard PB programming skills.
•    Enterprise CTOs can harness the benefits of bona fide Web architecture, without the added complexity of managing both client/server and Web versions of the same application.
•    Enterprise CFOs can achieve the shortest project cycle while leveraging existing IT investments that yield superior ROI.

Appeon PowerBuilder 2.7 now supports PFC and PowerBuilder 9.0, and the forthcoming Appeon 2.8 will include features such as ShareData and client-side DLL and OLEObject support.  Appeon 2.8 is on track for delivery on or after July 7th.

There will be extensive demonstrations during this exciting and informative presentation.  Be sure to attend!
