1) Next SUG-TX Meeting – June 26, 2007

 

The Sybase Users’ Group of Texas will be meetings quarterly this year.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 26, 2007.   The meetings are held at HAL-PC, 4543 Post Oak Place, Suite 200, Houston, TX 77027 (map).  Members frequently continue discussions at Champps Sports Bar after the meeting while waiting for traffic to subside.  More information will be sent in June.

 

 

2) Sybase Reports Solid 2007 First Quarter Results

 

EPS Exceeds First Call Consensus Estimate

 

DUBLIN, Calif. — APRIL 26, 2007 — Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2007.

Highlights:

 

  • Total revenues increased 18% year over year to $230.0 million
  • Total database license revenues grew 17% year over year
  • Over 17 billion total messages delivered across the Sybase 365 network
  • Cash flow from operations of $69.6 million
  • Pro forma operating income increased 19% year over year; GAAP up 13%
  • Pro forma fully diluted EPS of $0.27 exceeded First Call consensus estimate of $0.26; GAAP EPS of $0.16

 

2007 First Quarter Results

Total revenue increased 18% to $230.0 million from $195.0 million in the first quarter of 2006. The company reported total license revenue of $69.4 million, services revenue of $129.7 million, and messaging revenue of $31.0 million.

 

Pro forma operating income for the quarter increased 19% year over year to $33.9 million, representing a 15% operating margin.

Pro forma net income for the quarter increased 9% to $24.9 million, or earnings per diluted share (EPS) of $0.27. This compares with pro forma net income of $22.7 million, or EPS of $0.25 for the first quarter of 2006.

The Houston User Group for Sun meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Houston Sun office.  The next meeting will be on June 12th with a presentation on Sun Dtrace with Jarod Jenson.  To be added to their mailing list, contact Art Blummer.
