1) SUG-TX November 18th Meeting

The Sybase Users' Group of Texas did not hold a meeting in November.


2) Next SUG-TX Meeting - December Holiday Party

The Sybase Users' Group of Texas will hold a holiday party instead of holding a December meeting.  Drinks and appetizers will be provided.

3) Sybase Announces Unwired Enterprise Initiative

4) SAP and Sybase Form Global Agreement to Deliver Integrated Solutions
    for SAP® Business One

Alliance Will Combine Sybase Database with SAP® Business One and Drive Mobile Solutions from Sybase for SAP Business One Customers

WALLDORF, Germany and DUBLIN, Calif.  Nov. 17, 2003  SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY) today announced a worldwide agreement to deliver integrated solutions by aligning SAP® Business One with Sybase data management solutions for small and midsize businesses (SMBs). The agreement combines the strengths of SAP Business One, SAP’s new solution for companies with as few as five to as many as several hundred employees, with Sybase’s industrial-strength relational database management system, Adaptive Server® Enterprise (ASE).

Additionally, SAP and Sybase will embark to develop and market Sybase mobile solutions for SAP Business One customers. SAP Business One customers and partners around the globe will benefit from the alliance’s effective, affordable SMB solutions that will be tailored specifically to the needs of a range of vertical industries and geographic markets.

Under the agreement, SAP and Sybase will integrate SAP Business One with Sybase’s ASE data management solution. SAP will sell and distribute the combined offering through its worldwide partner distribution channels.
Both companies will dedicate marketing, alliance and training resources to ensure the success of the partnership, while taking advantage of the global presence of the two companies to deliver the SAP Business One offering to customers in key markets worldwide.

5) Houston User Group for Sun (HUGS) Meeting

The Houston User Group for Sun meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Houston Sun office.  The next meeting is Dec. 9th.  Victor Gentry will be giving us a look into the world of Java from the Sun perspective.
His presentation will cover Java Enterprise System Overview with a demo of the Java Desktop System.  Victor will also demo the "Looking Glass", the next generation desktop.  To be added to their mailing list, contact Art Blummer at Blummer@computer.org.

b) Webcast - ISUG Techcast Series for Developers and DBAs

    Topic: Building Database and Synchronization Applications with Sybase
           Pocket PowerBuilder
    Date: December 9th and 11th, 2003

The new monthly ISUG techcast series, featuring popular topics and issues for Developers and DBAs, kicked off in November and continues in December.
These techcasts will provide a live forum for peer-to-peer, user-to-user information exchange and discussion.  The topic for December 9th and 11th is "Building Database and Synchronization Applications with Sybase Pocket PowerBuilder," presented by Marty Mallick of Sybase.
