1) Next SUG-TX Meeting - October 25th

 

The Sybase Users’ Group of Texas will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, October 25th.  Come to the October SUG-TX meeting for a wrap up of the TechWave 2005 Conference.  SUG-TX board members Don Clayton, Kathy Ridley, Cindy Bean, and Cynthia Gill attended TechWave and will review the information presented Las Vegas, including ISUG’s new My.ISUG.com members web site, products futures and directions.  Come hear about the exciting news that Sybase shared with attendees.

2) SUG-TX ASE 15 Launch – November 8th!

 

Mark your calendars and join SUG-TX and Sybase for a Houston ASE 15 Launch.  Meet us at Jillian’s on November 8th for a celebration of ASE 15.  Learn about the new release from Jeff Tallman, an evangelist for Sybase specializing on ASE, Replication Server, and Sybase IQ.  Jeff will cover Query optimization enhancements, I/O performance enhancements, and system administration tools enhancements.  More details will be sent soon.  Stayed tuned.

 

 

3) Sybase Reports 2005 Third Quarter Results, Exceeding First Call EPS Consensus Estimates

 

DUBLIN, Calif. – October 20, 2005 – Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and wireless software, today reported financial results for the 2005 third quarter ended September 30, 2005. Pro forma net income for the third quarter reached $30.1 million, or earnings of $0.33 per share on a diluted basis (EPS). This compares with pro forma net income of $27.4 million, or EPS of $0.29 for the 2004 third quarter.

 

GAAP net income for the 2005 third quarter was $28.0 million, or EPS of $0.30. This compares with GAAP net income of $17.8 million, or EPS of $0.19 for the third quarter of 2004.

 

Pro forma amounts exclude amortization of certain expenses including certain purchased intangibles, unearned stock-based compensation, and restructuring costs. Accompanying this release is a reconciliation of pro forma and GAAP amounts for the 2005 third quarter.

 

Total revenues for the third quarter were $199.3 million compared with $198.7 million for the third quarter of 2004. License revenues were $69.7 million for the 2005 third quarter compared with $70.4 million for the same quarter a year ago.

4) iAnywhere Launches Beta Of AvantGo For RSS

 

Dublin, CA - October 18, 2005 - iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today announced the beta release of new RSS (Really Simple Syndication) features for its popular AvantGo® mobile Internet service. The new features give users greater ease-of-use for viewing mobile RSS subscriptions online or offline, and expands the content available through AvantGo by including the millions of RSS feeds offered by bloggers and major media. AvantGo users can now add any RSS feed to their account, without installing additional software, and then synchronize using a wireless or desktop Internet connection to receive the feed items in a format optimized for their device.

 

"AvantGo has a trendsetting audience and RSS support has been one of our top user requests," said Jon Asmussen, Product Manager, AvantGo at iAnywhere. "Today we're responding by delivering a simple, free service for reading RSS feeds on a smartphone or PDA."
