Q: Why Can't I Access The Membership Portal?
For technical reasons too boring to explain, the Membership Portal is hosted by a secondary web server and that requires a port number to correctly identify the portal's web server host. Unfortunately, we have found that some percentage of companies, employers, or wireless access point providers will filter out any HTTP communication with port directives. If you are behind a proxy server or firewall with this kind of configuration, you may receive an error message in your browser similar to the error below (we have heard of other errors, but this is the general idea). Please note that the error is provided by your server and not ours.
We are waiting on upgraded server software to be released in late November or early December. When released, installed and properly configured, we will be able to eliminate the port number identification from our URLs... until then we ask for and appreciate your patience.
If you have additional information that will assist with this issue, please feel free to contact me directly at
We'd like to thank SUGTX Member Jean Fields for bringing this to our attention.

Q: I recognize your skyline in the banner... where was the picture taken?
The banner image you see above (and included in the monthly newsletters) is the view from the offices of the technology provider for the SUGTX web sites (this site, membership portal, & officer portal). The funding, expertise, and technology are graciously provided by Intertech Consulting, Inc., a premier Sybase Partner for the Houston & Southern Region.
